Spanish News - Calpe, Alicante Costa Blanca
Calpe and Benissa Lions Club put on a puppet show for children in Calpe last week .
It all started with the traditional Punch and Judy , baby , policeman , crocodile and all .
Then it went on to Old McDonald and all of his farm animals .
The children were plied with sweets and during the second half joined in with all the animal noises .
Spanish News - Les Deveses, Denia, Costa Blanca
Residents of Les Deveses in Denia are meeting with the mayor to discuss the regeneration of their part of the town .
They complain that money has been spent on the northern end of the town while they are being left to decay . Their beaches need improvements as do the the roads surrounding the area .
They want the roads to be resurfaced , better street lighting and upgrading of the beach .
The mayor has sought a meeting with the coastal authorities to try and resolve the matter .

A British couple , who lived in Alameda , had a very serious domestic row last which ended in both parties being injured .
Neighbours were disturbed in the early hours to discover that the couple were fighting with knives .
The woman was helped by the neighbours , who called the police .
Both the woman and her partner were treated in hospital . Local people said that they were new to the area and were regarded locally as being a little ” strange “.

An accident in Moraira , involving a middle aged man driving a motorbike and a motor car , resulted in the man dying at the scene .
Paramedics were called to the scene but failed to resucitate him . The driver of the car was unhurt .The accident happened in Cami de Fanadix during the afternoon .
Another road accident happened the same day in Altea , when a man was seriously injured in a road accident . The man was riding a cycle which was in collision with a car on the N332 . The man suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital in Villajoyosa .

The problems between the residents of Alicante’s Juan XXIII zone and the growing number of Romanian gypsies living in the area seem to be on the increase .
Residents took to the streets last week in protest about what they regard as antisocial behaviour on the part of the Romanians .
Earlier in the month they barricaded the streets in an attempt to draw attention to the issues . This time they took to the streets and some shouted racist remarks .
Police prevented direct contact with the Romanians but the situation is very volatile .
